Why choose solar panels in Nairn?
Nairn sits on the Moray Firth coast with above-average sunshine hours for Scotland, making it well-suited for solar generation.
Nairn sits on the Moray Firth coast, east of Inverness. It is one of the sunniest locations in the Scottish Highlands, benefiting from the rain shadow of the mountains to the west. Properties here often have excellent solar potential with relatively low wind exposure compared to more elevated Highland sites.
Off-gas properties
Many properties in the surrounding Highlands are off the gas grid, making solar-plus-battery or solar-plus-heat-pump combinations particularly relevant. These properties often have higher energy costs and benefit most from self-generation.
Grid connection
DNO: SSEN (Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks). G98/G99 application via SSEN before installation. Systems up to 3.68 kW single-phase typically qualify for simplified G98 notification; larger systems require G99 engineering study, which can take 6–12 weeks in the Highlands due to grid constraints.
