How it works

From first call to switch-on

Eight clear steps. We handle the advisory side — grant guidance, introductions, and process coordination. Our installer partner handles the technical work.

The process takes eight steps from your first call to switch-on, typically four to eight weeks. We handle the advisory side including grant guidance and coordination, while our MCS-certified installation partner carries out the site survey, provides the quote, and completes the installation.

You get in touch

Call us on 0141 230 0198, WhatsApp, or fill in the form on this site. Takes 2 minutes.

We check your grant eligibility

We confirm whether your postcode qualifies for standard grant rates or the rural uplift, and what funding applies to your situation.

We introduce you to our installer partner

We pass your details to Home Heating Services (Scotland) Ltd, our MCS-certified installation partner. They contact you to arrange a survey.

Technical survey

Your installer partner visits your property to assess roof orientation, structural suitability, electrical supply, and shading. Usually takes 1–2 hours.

Formal written quote

You receive a detailed quote covering the exact system specification, price, warranty terms, and projected generation for your property.

SSEN grid application

Your installer handles the G98 or G99 notification to SSEN. Simple G98 (under 3.68 kW single-phase) is usually fast. Larger G99 systems can take 6–12 weeks in the Highlands.

Installation

Typically 1–2 days for a standard domestic system. Your installer partner manages scaffolding, electrical work, and commissioning.

Handover and monitoring

Your installer walks you through the system, sets up monitoring, registers your MCS certificate, and confirms your export tariff eligibility.

Who actually installs the solar panels?

Our MCS-certified installation partner carries out every survey, quote, and installation. We handle advisory, grant guidance, and coordination.

Solar Panels Inverness is a renewable energy consultancy. We provide guidance and introductions. The technical survey, quote, installation, and aftercare are all handled by our installer partner, Home Heating Services (Scotland) Ltd. Your contract is with them, not with us.

MCS, TrustMark, and Gas Safe accreditations are held by Home Heating Services (Scotland) Ltd, not by Scottish Energy Efficiency.

What are the steps from enquiry to switch-on?

Eight clear steps: initial call, site survey, quote, grant application, installation date, install day, SSEN connection, and aftercare.
